A journey of empowerment and art - sharing by Art Women | Dienstag, 18. August 2020

Join us to look at how Art Women empowers the refugee community in HK!

At Encompass HK we continue to strive to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals and support various groups which reduces inequalities (SDG10 ) in the community. This evening we’ll have our guest speaker Clarisse from Art Women who will share with us their journey in creating and enabling a safe environment for refugee women in Hong Kong who make arts and crafts as a way to navigate trauma. The group, founded by Clarisse Akonyi, has been registered as a charity in Democratic Republic of Congo - her home country.

Art Women ASBL in Congo promotes and protects survivors of sexual violence, street children and orphans. The organization works on the ground to promote the vocational education and literacy of vulnerable women and children, to develop sustainable pathways for their futures. Art Women ASBL also provides temporary housing, health support and shelter for vulnerable people, partnering with different organizations in furtherance of their mission to help those in need.
