OBJECTIVES
This seminar will provide delegates with a reminder of their data protection obligations when handling cybersecurity attacks and provide key practical guidance on how to handle a data security breach. We will also consider some recent decisions of the ICO to help identify what types of breaches need to be reported and what can be learned from recent incidents. We will also discuss how delegates can minimise data breaches in practical terms.

This seminar will be of interest to solicitors in all areas of practice, particularly those in managerial rolls who wish to gain a better understanding of their obligations if their firm suffers a cybersecurity attack and for some useful tips on how to protect their firm against cyber attacks.

Jo McLean, Managing Associate at Addleshaw Goddard.
Jo is a managing associate in the Data team at Addleshaw Goddard, based in Edinburgh. Jo has significant experience advising clients on compliance with data protection and e-marketing legislation.
In particular, Jo has been engaged on various GDPR compliance projects for clients in financial services, professional services, airspace and engineering, food and drink, digital marketing, IT, housing association, manufacturing and charitable sectors.
